Dr. Warne White

Dr. Warne White attended the University of Pittsburgh for both undergraduate and dental school. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959.
After graduation he spent 8 years in the United States Navy practicing general dentistry. Some of his interesting experiences were living in Iceland for one year with his family and going out to sea and diving underwater on a nuclear sub while practicing dentistry at the submarine base at Groton, Connecticut. While there he also worked on early studies of topical flouride application to prevent cavities.
After discharge from the Navy in 1967 as a Lt. Commander, he attended Columbia University for specialty training in orthodontics where one of his professors was Dr. Harry Barrer. In 1969 Dr. Barrer invited him to practice in Reading Pennsylvania. Drs. Barrer and White developed and taught one of the technique programs in orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania where students treat patients using methods we use in our office. This course is still being taught and improved by Dr. Jim and Dr. Doug today.
While teaching, Dr. White was invited to speak before many local and national organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists where he was one of the featured speakers on the national program discussing early treatment and when it may be indicated.
Currently, he gives only selected lectures to the postgraduate students, allowing Drs. Jim and Doug to teach the technique course to the students while treating patients at the university. Dr. White spends his spare time at various sporting activities and trying to shorten the various "to do" lists both at home and at the office.
